Meanwhile outside...

On the back patio there is a cistern that was used for a source of water for the house.  It is about 10ft deep.  It was originally covered by a concrete slab that was very cracked and a huge safety concern,  so we uncovered it with the plan to drain it, fill it in, and cover it up.  But don't worry, we will explore down at the bottom before we seal it up!  Maybe there is treasure down there!

This is a picture of our beautiful view of the backyard and you can see the square concrete slab with the circular piece on top.  This is what it looked like before.

This is what it looked like when we opened it up.  It was filled almost to the top with water!  It took 2 full days to drain using a small pump.  They also opened up the top more so we can safely get down in there and look around before we seal it up.

This is what it looks like now.  Unfortunately every time we plan to go down and explore, we get a bunch of rain and it fills back up!  Eventually it will dry up, as Oklahoma weather does every year, and we will get down in there and investigate.
